Single Masted Ships (Sloops or Cutters)
are simplest to rig and handle, but for large boats the sails can get large and unweildy.
Sloops Having one mast and one jib carry a single jibA triangular sail set in front of the foremast. Cutters Having two or more jibs carry more than one foresail, and usually the mainmast is stepped further aft to compensate.
What's the shape of the mainsail the sail right behind the mainmast, usually the largest?
